About the Role
JP Construction is building out its Design & Engineering division, and this role sits at the center of it. You will size structural systems for new builds, review existing conditions for addition tie-ins, and produce the calculations and details that back our permit submissions. Unlike a desk-only consulting seat, this role gets you into the field: walking rough framing, solving real conditions with the crew, and seeing your designs built weeks after you draw them.
What You'll Do
- Perform structural analysis and design for wood, steel, post-frame, and concrete systems
- Review existing structures and design tie-ins for additions and renovations
- Produce and review structural drawings, details, and calculations with our architects
- Support permit submissions with stamped documents and respond to plan review comments
- Conduct site visits during foundations and rough framing to verify conforming work
- Advise project managers and field crews on structural questions as they arise
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
- PE license preferred; strong EIT candidates working toward licensure considered
- Experience with wood-frame residential and light commercial structures
- Proficiency with structural design software and CAD
- Comfortable communicating with field crews, inspectors, and clients
What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience and licensure
- A mix of office and field work, not a desk-only seat
- Paid time off and holidays
- The chance to shape the standards of a growing engineering division
- Local projects you can drive to and watch get built
